Following the Kentucky Wildcats' wild win over Louisiana-Lafayette, here are the postgame comments from a surprisingly upbeat Mark Stoops.
Despite watching his team blow a 23-point lead in the second half, Stoops was proud of the improvements his team showed and their will to battle back once adversity struck.
"I could not be more proud of this football team the way they hung in there and played a hard-fought game. We knew it wasn’t going to be easy. Just the overall day, that is the big thing. Let’s not kid ourselves, we have been building for this moment for a couple of years with the stadium and the anticipation and the fans and just an improved football team.
"We are an improved football team. I know it didn't always show out there tonight, but that's why you play. It's an opener. It's a start. There's going to be so many opportunities for us to learn from this. But just very proud of everybody involved."
