Kentucky Basketball Recruiting: De'Aaron Fox, Wenyen Gabriel, Miles Bridges updates

Three of the top college basketball prospects in the class of 2016 have or will meet with several big-time programs this week.

UPDATE TO THE UPDATE

KSR's Matt Jones, someone who's been high on Kentucky getting Miles Bridges, no longer thinks UK is the team to beat for the five-star wing after his visit to Michigan State.

John Calipari has had some lousy luck going after elite wings since coming to UK, so even though UK has been the favorite for Bridges for some time now, this really shouldn't be a surprising development.

The Kentucky Wildcats and John Calipari have a big recruiting week ahead of them as they meet with several basketball prospects.

Five-star point guard De'Aaron Fox appears to be at or near the top of UK's big board, and for good reason. He's the consensus No. 1 point guard in the 2016 class and could join the lineage of great floor general Calipari has coached in college before they went on to become high NBA draft picks.

According to Zags Blog, Fox will host Calipari Monday night for an in-home visit before taking an official visit with the Louisville Cardinals this coming weekend. He has already had home visits with the LSU Tigers, Kansas Jayhawks, Arizona Wildcats, and N.C. State Wolfpack. Fox also has official visits set for Louisville (Sept. 25-27), Kansas (Oct. 9-11), UK (Oct. 16-18) and Arizona (Nov. 6-8) and may make a decision after them.

Another big-time prospect UK will meet with this week is five-star forward Wenyen Gabriel, though he's actually coming to Lexington for an official visit, according to Scout.com. Gabriel is expected to have in-home visits with UConn on Monday, the Duke Blue Devils on Tuesday, Kentucky on Wednesday, and Maryland Terrapins on Thursday before his second official visit begins Thursday at UK.

As for Miles Bridges, the five-star wing just wrapped up his official visit with the Wildcats over the weekend. All indications are it went great and UK is still the slight favorite with his decision coming October 3rd. Here's a photo he took with Tyler Ulis and Isaiah Briscoe over the weekend:

However, one thing playing into Michigan State's hand is they just got a commitment from Cassius Winston, a good friend of Bridges that will undoubtedly help the Spartans' odds of prying him from the Cats.

"That’s my guy," Winston said of Bridges. "I let him know, but really, his decision is up to him. Whatever he wants to do, I hope and pray that’s best for him."

There's also a new highlight reel of Bridges from one of his games from this past spring that shows the wide range of offensive skills he possesses:
