Trae Young offered by Kentucky Basketball and John Calipari

Could UK be looking at a possible package-deal of Michael Porter Jr. and Trae Young?

The Kentucky Wildcats and head coach John Calipari have a new target in the 2017.

It's four-star point guard Trae Young, whom Cal offered after a talk with Young on Sunday:

Young already holds offers from college basketball's elite programs, including Duke, Kansas, Texas, Arizona, Virginia, Florida, Baylor, Florida, UConn, and others.

Recently, Young and 2017 forward and top-five prospect Michael Porter Jr. talked with Sports Illustrated about the two being a possible package deal:

At this point, a Young-Porter package deal is not a fait accompli. Asked to assess the probability that it will come to fruition, Young said 80-85%. It’s important to keep in mind that Okafor and Jones were not the norm. Many players have cast themselves as packages, only to later elect to attend different schools. Young and Porter appear to have strong interest in playing together, but remember: they’re just entering their junior years of high school. It’s too early to know whether they’ll still be committed to the concept, say, a year from now.

Is it a coincidence that UK just offered Young and is also heavily recruiting Porter? Rivals and 24/7 sports both have Young rated as a four-star prospect, but ESPN gave him five-star rating and tabbed him the No. 22 prospect in the Class of 2017.

Here are some highlights of Porter in action:
