Wildcat Quickies: American Pharoah Dominates Edition

Adam Hunger/Getty Images

The first Triple Crown winner in 37 years took to the track for the first time since that historic run.  American Pharoah cruised to a 2.25 length victory that could have easily been more.  The race looked more like a practice lap than a competitive race.

The horse was a 1 to 10 favorite, to put that into perspective if you handed the cashier a $100 bill, you would have received the $100 back plus $10.  How do you like those odds?

Could not agree more good sir.

It Is Podcast Time Again

Myself, Will Marshall and former All-SEC lineman Zipp Duncan had a chat about the intricacies of the offensive line unit, as well as a funny story about Coach Rich Brooks via Zipp that he will have to revisit as our recording did not catch it.

Two Big (literally and figuratively) JUCO Players Enroll

Two of Kentucky's top recruits from this class will be on campus and ready to go for 2015.  Courtney Miggins, the #8 rated JUCO Defensive Tackle and Alvonte Bell, the #12 JUCO Defensive End will be in the fold for a defense that looks to be much improved.

Bell held offers from Florida State and Washington, and MIggins had offers from Mississippi State and N.C. State.

Significant Football Recruits On Campus

The 'Cats have three strong prospects on campus as I type.  4-star running back Mohamed Ibrahim, 4-star defensive end Josh Paschal, and 3-star outside linebacker Ayinde Eley.

Shannon Dawson Feels The Need... The Need For Speed

Former OC Neal Brown wanted to run around 75 plays per game, Dawson's goal is 85 plays per game.  It will be a far cry from the 64.5 plays per game that Mark Stoops averaged in year one and 71 plays per game they averaged per game last season.

"We play football at a certain tempo," Dawson said. "We want to change the tempo in three or four different ways. One of them obviously is just fast balling, so we'll do a little bit more of that.

"But I think you can get that fairly easy. You just play fast. That's our default anyway: to go get lined up. And if we're going to pull it back or slow it down, then we do it."

"I can get that fast stuff taught in the fall very easily," Dawson said. "We're going to go fast. There's no doubt about it."

Ronda F. Rousey

Ronda Rousey only needed 34 seconds to demolish her opponent Bethe Correia.  Not to mention she came to her home country and obliterated her.  Correia talked trash non-stop and Rousey simply pummeled her and told her "not to cry" afterwards.

Wozniacki "aces" first pitch

Caroline Wozniacki with a ceremonial first pitch better than almost anyone who attempts it and she did it from the rubber... I am looking at you 50 Cent, Carl Lewis, etc.
