In a very shocking development, 2016 five-star point guard De'Aaron Fox is no longer considering the Texas Longhorns.
According to ESPN's Jeff Borzello, Fox has cut his list of schools in consideration, which was expected to come Friday. However, the home-state Longhorn was widely expected to be on it, but that's apparently not the case.
The Kentucky Wildcats, Kansas Jayhawks, Arizona Wildcats, North Carolina Tar Heels, and Louisville Cardinals were among those to make Fox's final list.
Fox, a 6-foot-3 point guard from Cypress Lakes High School (Katy, Texas) who is ranked No. 10 in the ESPN 100, told ESPN.com his final seven are Arizona, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisville, LSU, North Carolina and NC State.
"I don’t want my list to be too large," Fox told ESPN.com. "I don’t want it to overwhelm me. I want to have fun my senior year. I won’t have so many coaches calling me."
Here's Fox confirming his final list:

The 6-4, 170-pound point guard out of Cypress Lakes (TX) is rated the No. 4 overall prospect by 24/7 Sports and No. 9 player by Rivals.com. The homes-state Longhorns looked like the favorite initially, but Fox has changed course by cutting them from his list.
Looking at Fox's crystal ball, it looked like this was shaping up to be a battle between the Horns and Cats for Fox's services. With Texas now out, you have to thin a lot of predictions for UK are going to start coming in.
In the past month, momentum for UK has picked up to the point some view John Calipari and the Wildcats as the favorites to land him now. Back in April, Fox called UK, "every kid's dream school."
Whatever happens, Fox now looks very likely to leave the state of Texas for his college basketball career.
