Today marks the start of the first live period for college coaches to recruit high school basketball recruits.
It begins with the Nike EYBL Peach Jam in North August (SC), UnderArmour All-America camp in Charlotte (NC), and Adidas Uprising Gauntlet. John Calipari is already on the trail of five-star guard Rawle Alkins, and we should see reports of him meeting with other 2016 prospects over the next few weeks.

College basketball's first live period recruiting schedule: key dates, camps, players to watch
We'll be seeing most of the top players from the Class of 2016 in action over the next three weeks. Rawle Alkins, Malik Monk, Jayson Tatum, Michael Porter Jr., Josh Jackson, Thon Maker, and Kobi Simmons are just some of the many UK targets that will be playing.
Ten to watch for the Wildcats in July
The Catspause takes a look at the recruiting targets Kentucky fans should keep note of this month. Markelle Fultz, Mustapha Heron, Sacha Killeya-Jones, and Kostas Antetokounmpo are some of the names UK is either already after, or might soon be.
Offseason Synopsis | Cats QB one of few SEC vets
The SEC is undergoing a lot of turnover at the QB position, which makes Patrick Towles one of the few veterans of the most competitive league in college football. The Cats are poised to win six games and make a bowl game for the first time in four years if Towles continues to improve after making a big leap last year.
Five for 15: Critical 2015 games for Kentucky
It will be a small miracle if Kentucky is able to pull out six wins this year. They'll likely need to beat at least two teams that will be bowl eligible and possibly even ranked in the top 25 when the Cats face them. Only south Carolina and florida at home look like they'll be unranked and fighting UK for bowl eligibility as well.
UK Student Center is coming down
The Student Center is undergoing its first renovation and expansion in over 30 years. Planning started in spring of 2014, and the new facility is slated to open in January 2018. As for now, the LHL has some good photos of the old center coming down.
