College basketball recruiting is heating up this week with three weeks of "live periods" beginning.
John Calipari is wasting no time is meeting with one of Kentucky basketball's top targets in the class of 2016, and that's five-star guard Rawle Alkins:

There was an earlier report from Zags Blog that Kentucky was going to amp up their pressure on Alkins once the first live period began, so it's no surprise that Calipari has already met with the shooting guard from Middle Village, NY (Christ The King Regional)
"For Rawle, obviously St. John’s is going to make him a priority," Alkins' AAU director, Andy Borman, Zags Blog. "I haven’t spoken to any of the guys form Kentucky but I’ve spoken to Rawle and his family and Kentucky has said that they’ll be out there. [North] Carolina will be out there. I know Tom Crean and Indiana will be out there….From what I’ve heard, essentially everyone on Rawle’s list will be out there."
Alkins holds offers from Florida, Florida State, Indiana, Kansas, Louisville, Maryland, St. John’s, and Villanova among many others.
