According to Jen Smith of the Lexington Herald-Leader, the Kentucky Wildcats have lost several football Cats this offseason.
Fullback Jeff Witthuhn, wide receiver Miles Thompson and cornerback Keron Wakefield are all no longer with the UK program after all three saw live game action last season:
Kentucky’s newly updated roster shows several walk-ons have left the team, most notably fullback Jeff Witthuhn from Bowling Green. The 6-foot-3, 245-pound sophomore played in eight games as a reserve fullback last season and was in position to potentially be a starter with the graduation of D.J. Warren.
Miles Thompson, a wide receiver from Louisville, who played in UK wins over Tennessee Martin and Louisiana-Monroe last season also has left the program, a team spokesman confirmed.
Another former Manual player, cornerback Keron Wakefield has parted ways with UK as well.
It's tough to see any potential contributors leave, but none of these departures should impact UK significantly in 2015.
With Witthuhn out, Will Thomas Collins (5-11, 238, Jr.) and Tanner Fink (6-2, 233, Jr.) are listed as the first and second-string fullbacks respectively.
