Could the Kentucky Wildcats be on the verge of landing another offseason transfer?
Back in May, Minnesota Golden Gophers linebacker De’Niro Laster left the university with plans to transfer to closer to his Ohio home, according to StarTribune.com. The guys at Ky Sports Connection caught a recent tweet from De'Niro showing him visiting Kentucky. They also pointed out how De'Niro has been retweeting UK fans' tweets recently.
De’Niro is a former teammate of UK sophomore wide receiver Dorian Baker from their days at Cleveland Heights high School. It's also likely that De'Niro is at least familiar with recruiting coordinator and tight ends coach Vince Marrow, who has been like a hawk over Ohio since coming to Kentucky. While the Cats don't get everyone they target from the Buckeye state, there are few guys that make it to college without Marrow having some familiarity with them.
This past season at Minnesota, De'Niro registered six tackles and 0.5 sacks. That came after a redshirt season in 2013. He was a three-star LB prospect coming out of high school and the No. 53 prospect from the state of Ohio.
