Pelicans vs. Kings NBA Preseason Game Date Set

Crystal LoGiudice-USA TODAY Sports

The New Orleans Pelicans and the Sacramento Kings will play a preseason game at Rupp Arena on October 17th at 7 p.m., the Lexington Center Corp., announced Tuesday.

The game will feature several former Kentucky Wildcats, including NBA All-Stars Anthony Davis and Demarcus Cousins.

Davis, who is widely regarded as the NBA's next big superstar, signed a five-year, $145 million contract extension this summer to remain with New Orleans.

"I’m really excited about the opportunity to play at Rupp Arena again in front of the Big Blue Nation," Anthony Davis said in the release. "I always look forward to going back to Kentucky and visiting with the players, coaches and fans."

Cousins remains the centerpiece of the Kings and is now joined by former Wildcats Rajon Rondo and Willie Cauley-Stein.

This will mark the first NBA exhibition in Rupp Arena since 2013, when John Wall's Washington Wizards took on Davis and the Pelicans. Davis and the Pelicans played the Miami Heat in Louisville's KFC Yum Center during the NBA's preseason last year.

Tickets range in price from $10 – $250 and go on sale to the public Friday, July 17 at 10:00 a.m. They can be purchased at the Rupp Arena box office, Ticketmaster.com or RuppArena.com, or by calling Ticket Master at 800-745-3000.
