DeMarcus Cousins' days in Sacramento may finally be numbered.
The Kings are reportedly talking to the Lakers about a trade that would send the All-Star center to Los Angeles. It was originally believed that these talks were one way and Sacramento wasn't actually considering offers for their franchise centerpiece.
Now, Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski reports L.A. and Sacramento actually exchanged proposals on what it would take to pry Cousins away from the Kings.
The Los Angeles Lakers and Sacramento Kings exchanged possible frameworks of a trade centered on All-Star DeMarcus Cousins on Wednesday and discussions could intensify on Thursday, league sources told Yahoo Sports.
The Kings started to engage with teams and explore possible trade scenarios beyond the Lakers on Wednesday, league sources said. Sacramento management has publicly said it won't trade Cousins, but that stance has increasingly softened and the franchise is proceeding further on moving him, league sources said.
I honestly though Cousins was at least a year from possibly being traded with Sacramento having put so much work into helping him become one of the NBA's best players. The thought of them actually trading him to a division rival seems surreal, but it now looks possible Boogie is playing for a different team next season.
Oh, and before you get too excited about a possible Kentucky connection of Cousins and Julius Randle, it's likely Randle gets moved in a deal for Cousins.
