Kentucky Wildcats freshman guard Isaiah Briscoe will not proceed with USA Basketball in the FIBA U19 World Championship due to a concussion.

Team USA head coach Sean Miller made the announcement Friday that Briscoe would not continue with the team after suffering a concussion during a practice on Thursday morning.

"I feel very bad for Isaiah. He had a tremendous attitude and was one of our overall best players and one of our leaders of the team," U19 head coach Sean Miller said in a news release. "It is very, very unfortunate to see him get injured in what was really a two-on-two drill. But the good news is I know he’ll recover and be fine; the bad news is he won’t be able to play on our team."

Briscoe is now expected to join his future teammates at Kentucky soon. Replacing him for Team USA will be Virginia Tech's Justin Bibbs.

Team USA training continues at the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado, through Saturday, June 20 before taking off for the 2015 FIBA U19 World Championship from June 27-July 5 in Heraklion, Crete, Greece.
