Year three is vital for Mark Stoops, according to Mark Story of the Herald-Leader. It’s important, especially for recruiting, that Kentucky deliver some success this season and gets to the post-season. If recruiting declines back to where it was when Joker Phillips was here, it will be hard for Stoops to succeed.
-
Charles Evans of Fansided bizarrely chooses Mark Stoops as the 24th "most disappointing coach." I don’t really know why I linked this — probably just to mock it, I suppose.

Dragging top 2016 prospect Harry Giles away from Tobacco Road may be an uphill battle for Coach Cal, due to the fact he’s from there.
-
Chad Ford says Andrew and Aaron Harrison didn’t show enough improvement in their sophomore season. Far be it from me to gainsay him, but I think Andrew improved a lot. Aaron had a typical sophomore season, but I suspect they’ll both have to work overtime to make NBA rosters and stick.
-
The time has come for Marcus Lee and Alex Poythress to shine, according to Jason Ludlow of CN|2. I expect that they will, too.

Softball swept by the Georgia Bulldogs, spoiling senior day.

Women’s golf makes the 2015 NCAA Championship field. Outstanding.

Gators win the final game of the series, but Kentucky takes the 3-game series 2-1 off #5 Florida. They now travel to Louisville to take on the #3 Cardinals.

Ben Howland puts the SEC on notice, according to this Fansided blog. Really? He gets a coveted recruit, and suddenly he’s "putting the SEC on notice?" The author might want to look down to Baton Rouge, or up to Lexington.

Ricky O’Donnell watches a flurry of AAU activity this weekend, and has an interesting observation that struck home with me:
As long as this country keeps producing top basketball talents, the AAU circuit will survive in a way that entertains some and irritates others. It’s not perfect, but it’s not some dark plague on the spirit of the game, either.
This seems right to me. Yes, shoe company influence can be a significant problem, but generally it’s far less malignant than many would like to tell you.
