Weekend Quickies: Gator Bait Edition

The Bat Cats headed south to Gainesville for a three game set against the #5 ranked Gators and they will be going for the series sweep today at 12:30.  On Friday night the 'Cats pitching staff combined to shutout the Gators 3-0. Zack Brown worked seven shutout innings scattering five hits, four of them singles, and striking out six.  Brown extended his scoreless streak to 15 and 1/3 innings.

Yesterday, the 'Cats jumped out to a 4-0 lead but had to lean on back-to-back Home runs by Greg Fettes and Connor Heady to allow enough rope to keep the Wildcats from hanging themselves in the 9th inning as Florida made a furious comeback attempt.  The rally fell short and the Wildcats walked away with a series clinching 7-6 victory.

Kentucky swept the Tennessee Vols last weekend in Lexington and they had a series win at #1 LSU earlier as well.  This also extends the Kentucky winning streak to six games.

Cats hang on 7-6. @UKBaseball has taken first two games at FLA. Cats now own series wins AT #1 LSU and #5 FLA. Six-game win streak for UK.

• John Calipari's 2015 recruiting class is starting to take on a sense of finality as we head into the home stretch of this spring recruiting period.  4-star JUCO guard Mychal Mulder is on campus currently and the general consensus is he will commit to UK before he leaves. Mulder would be a great addition for depth and would be a factor for us in 2015-16. Adding Mulder is bigger than you might think as he would fill the hole left by Devin Booker.

• The next likely commit would be Jamal Murray, Murray is hopefully going to be visiting next weekend.  If he does not come, it will not be a good sign.  The third option for the 'Cats would be Cheick Diallo and there are rumblings he could decide as early as Monday.

• The UK Softball team fell to the Georgia Bulldogs 6-4 in a series clinching game.  The 'Cats will try and salvage a win in their final home game and avoid faller deeper into the bubble, today at 1:00

• A Horse Jockey's pants fell down as he was nearing the finish line in Australia, providing the fans with a full moon to go with their race. Google it if you want to see the footage.

• This is a brilliant mash-up of Matthew McConaughey from Interstellar supposedly reacting to the new Star Wars trailer.  I lost it when he waved back.
