The first half of the Auburn Tigers vs. Kentucky Wildcats went very much according to expectations — Auburn was scrappy but vastly undermanned, and Kentucky was too big, too talented, and just too good. With all that said, the Wildcats didn’t exactly set the nets ablaze, and although 58% is solid, you might expect Kentucky to shoot better than that. Unfortunately, the Wildcats fell in love with the three a little bit and got a lot of fouls called on them, allowing Auburn to shoot a bunch of unguarded 15-footers.

Kentucky did shoot the ball pretty well from three, though, making 4 of 9. More importantly, Kentucky defended the three well, holding Auburn to 1-11 from outside the arc. The Wildcats are also taking good care of the basketball and making their free throws, so there is not much to complain about at this point.
Let’s see if we can improve on this the second half. Go, ‘Cats!
