Georgia Bulldogs at Kentucky Wildcats: Live Game Thread

It's the Dawgs versus the 'Cats tonight in Rupp Arena.

It’s time to welcome the Georgia Bulldogs into Rupp Arena for one of two games this season. Any more, it’s tough to keep track of who we get a home and home with, but this season, the Dawgs are one of them.

Essentials for victory

  • Force Georgia to put the ball on the floor — The Dawgs have been hot from three since league play started, and the Wildcats need to respect that.

  • Avoid silly fouls — The Bulldogs are one of the better teams in the league at getting to the line, and Charles Mann is a big reason, but not the only one. Kentucky must avoid silly fouls, because their likely to pick up plenty of good ones.

  • Attack the glass — Georgia is a good rebounding team, but they are vulnerable without Marcus Thornton in the lineup. UK must take advantage of that.

  • Attack in transition — Georgia is one of the worst teams in the league when it comes to transition defense. Kentucky isn’t much better overall, but has been improving.

  • Get the ball into the post — The Dawgs are undersized, and should be vulnerable to an inside attack.

  • Force turnovers — Georgia is not a great ballhandling team, and will turn it over under the best of circumstances. Kentucky has to make the circumstances anything but the best.

This is a game that Kentucky should win fairly comfortably, especially at home. The only excuse for a difficult game is not respecting their opponent and not bringing the energy. Usually, that’s not a problem in Rupp Arena, but after 21 straight, the Wildcats may be feeling a bit cocky. Georgia is just too good to take for granted.

Let’s get #22. Go, ‘Cats!
