All-SEC Football teams have no Kentucky Wildcats

Though no Cats made the Coaches' All-SEC teams, some deserve recognition for their great play this season.

Mark Zerof-USA TODAY Sports

The SEC has announced the2015 All-SEC Coaches' Football Teams, and the Kentucky Wildcats made neither the first or second teams.

While many will point to the Cats' 5-7 finish and late-season collapse, anyone who watched this team knows there are still several players worthy of All-SEC consideration. Jon Toth was quietly one of the league's best centers, though he was overshadowed by what was overall one of, if not the worst offensive line in the league, but Toth still had a fine season.

The same is true of linebacker Josh Forrest, who finished the year with a team-high 93 tackles and 3.5 sacks to go with two interceptions, six tackles for loss and seven pass defenses. He also had a pick-six in UK's regular-season finale vs UL.

But no Cat deserves an All-SEC nod more than Cory Johnson, who was a monster on the defensive line and seemed to be making a big play every week. He finished with 67 total tackles, the most by any SEC defensive lineman, while also notching a team-high 8.0 tackles for loss to go with two sacks, a forced fumble, an interception, and a fumble returned for a 77-yard touchdown vs Tennessee. He was easily the brightest spot on a UK team that had another gloomy finish, which probably helped lead to him getting snubbed off the All-SEC teams.
