Former Kentucky Wildcat standout Kyle Wiltjer has been named to the Associated Press Preseason All-American Team, it was announced on Monday.

Wiltjer, who was part of UK's NCAA Championship run in 2011-12, is now a star at Gonzaga where he averaged  16.7 points and 6.0 rebounds last season for the Bulldogs. Wiltjer was the leading vote-getter on this year's All-American team, receiving 51 votes from the 65-member national media panel.

Also making the All-American team were Georges Niang of Iowa State, Buddy Hield of Oklahoma, Kris Dunn of Providence and Ben Simmons of LSU. This is the third straight preseason All-America team to have a freshman on it after Simmons, a 6-foot-10 native of Australia, was named to it.

He and UK freshman Skal Labissiere are considered not only two of the best freshmen in college, but two of the best overall players before they even play an official game. Those two are also projected by most as the top two picks in the 2016 NBA Draft.

Unfortunately, Labissiere, nor any other Wildcat, made the All-American team.
