Congratulations are in order for the No. 12 Kentucky Wildcats men's soccer team, who won their first Conference USA Men’s Soccer Regular Season Championship on Saturday night.
They did so thanks to junior forward Ryan Creel’s 80th-minute goal that gave UK (12-3-2, 7-0-1 C-USA) a 1-0 win over the FIU Golden Panthers (9-6-1, 3-4-1 C-USA) at The Bell. Senior goalkeeper Callum Irving played a big part in holding FIU's No. 9 scoring offense without a goal on their six shot attempts through the entire match. That was Irving's eighth shutout this year.
Kentucky will have the top seed in next week’s C-USA Tournament, playing next Friday at 4:30 p.m. against the winner of Old Dominion and FIU. While this is the Cats' first regular-season C-USA title, they do has four regular-season conference titles from their days in the Mid-American Conference.
