UPDATE

To no surprise, Harry Giles picked Duke.

***

In case you missed it, high school phenom and 2016 overall top recruit Harry Giles announced yesterday that he will make his college decision this afternoon. Giles is down to Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, and Wake Forest, but the heavy favorite is Duke.

John Calipari has put the full court press on Giles and was visiting Giles this week when the player tore his ACL in a game. Never count out Cal, especially when he digs in his heals, but Giles has been a Duke lean for a long time. Giles hinted in the past that he and fellow 2016 superstar Jason Tatum could be a package deal. Tatum is already a Blue Devil.

Giles is a John Wall/Anthony Davis type recruit. Getting him would be a huge victory for Cal.

Tweet of the Day:

I know this tweet was from yesterday, but I found it to be extremely hilarious. I'm still laughing.

Prayers indeed.

Kentucky Football:

I'm not sure what was going on with the Georgia Bulldogs coaching staff yesterday, but rumors ran rampant on the internet that defensive coordinator was fired and punched head coach Mark Richt. Richt shot down the rumor, but one has to wonder how stable the situation is in Athens.

NFL Hall of Fame quarterback and former Georgia great Fran Tarkenton weighed in on the coaching situation and said, "it is not functioning properly."

Boom Williams, Darius West, and Joey Herrick are all ruled out for tomorrow's game.

Shannon Dawson hopes that improved game management will help the offensive line with their pass protection. I'm glad Dawson is taking ownership of some of the playcalling.

Video of the always entertaining Corey Johnson talking about his touchdown against Tennessee and why his Instagram name is PhotoBombShorty.

Congrats to Jordan Swindle, Landon Foster, and Charles Walker earned academic all-district.Way to get it done in the classroom.

Kentucky Basketball:

Skal Lanissiere is in the early stages of his improvement, but his skills are already extremely honed. The ceiling for him is extremely high and I see a Karl-Anthony Towns/Anthony Davis growth rate in his future.

2016 five-star prospect and top overall center Jarrett Allen is visiting Kentucky this weekend. Kentucky is trending upward with the extremely talented big man and fans would love a front court consisting of him, Isaac Humphries, Ty Wynyard, Sascha Killya-Jones, and Winyan Gabriel. Watch him work:

Isaac Humphries and Skal Labissiere preview their exhibition game against Kentucky State.

John Calipari previews Kentucky State in his press conference.

The game airs tonight at 6:00 PM on ESPNU so don't forget to tune in. Yours truly will have the post-game reaction.

Other Kentucky Sports:

Congrats to the Kentucky women's volleyball team and the #21 Wildcats did their part in Athens and swept the Bulldogs last night. The ladies take on Tennessee Sunday at 1:00 PM.

The Kentucky men's soccer team will take on FIU tonight at 7:00 PM in Lexington.

Sports Around the Country:

Johnny Manziel was inconsistent last night in the 31-10 blowout loss to the Bengals, but he wants to remain the starting QB in Cleaveland.

Derrick Rose showed he still has it and went off for 29 points en route to dealing the Oklahoma City Thunder their third straight loss. How's that pro gig going, Billy D?

Karl-Anthony Towns had his first poorly played NBA game last night as his Timberwolves lost to the Heat. KAT finished 3-13 shooting, six points, four rebounds, and three blocks. Growing pains, young fella.

Did Leonard Fournette's family break NCAA rules by setting up a "charitable" website to capitalize off of the star running back before he was even in college? The NCAA is obviously looking into this and this isn't the news LSU fans want to hear as their undefeated Tigers are set to face Alabama for SEC West supremacy tomorrow night.

Want to hate the Patriots even more? It appears they win the coin toss at the beginning of games at an unbelievable rate.

The University of Louisville board of trustees met yesterday about...nothing apparently. The emergency meeting was called but according to chairman Larry Benz, neither the escort scandal nor Rick Pitino's job were discussed. So they had an emergency meeting to talk about how awesome things are going at UofL right now. Lying is a culture there and honestly I don't think they even realize they are doing it sometimes.

Other News:

Fargo season two is even better than the great Fargo season one. It's the best thing on TV right now and it really isn't close. The biggest mystery on the show isn't the feuding of midwestern crime families or the middle-class couple covering up a hit and run death, but the weird UFO/time stoppage connection to it all. If you aren't watching Fargo, go to your On Demand and start watching it right now.

Daniel Fleetwood, a man ill with terminal cancer that ha a very poor prognosis is a Star Wars fanatic but was afraid that he would die before he was able to see Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Well, thanks to the online efforts of people like Mark Hamil and George Takei, JJ Abrams granted the super fan his wish and screened the film for the man.

Luke Skywalker to the rescue (sheds tear).

Nature's next big problem: farting kangaroos.
