Kentucky Wildcats' Boom Williams, Darius West ruled out vs Georgia

Mark Zerof-USA TODAY Sports

The Kentucky Wildcats will be down one of their best players will they travel to Athens for a matchup with the Georgia Bulldogs.

Head coach Mark Stoops announced Thursday that running back Stanley 'Boom' Williams had been ruled out for Saturday as he deals with an elbow injury. Boom's progress has improved since the initial injury happened last Saturday against Tennessee, so much so that he went from being listed as week-to-week to day-to-day in the past few days.

That's a good sign that Boom will be able to play again this season, but it won't be this weekend. Williams has played in seven games this season, rushing for 563 yards and three touchdowns while averaging 6.6 yards per carry. He’s topped the 100-yard mark three times, and rushed for at least 80 yards in every game he’s received double-digit carries this season.

Stoops also ruled out safety Darius West and wide receiver Joey Herrick. West is still battling an ankle injury and was initially called questionable for this week. Herrick, who has been a key contributor on special teams, was previously declared out for this game with a bone bruise.
