Sunday
A matchup between the Pelicans and Suns Sunday night would pit the best former Cat in the NBA, Anthony Davis, against the team with the most Cats on the roster. Davis would prove to be the best former Cat in the league on Sunday night leading the Pelicans to a 122-116 win scoring 32 points, 19 rebounds, and four blocks.
Eric Bledsoe, Brandon Knight, and Devin Booker would show their talent in this game as well, all scoring in double digits. Bledsoe led the trio with 29 points, seven rebounds, and six assists while Knight added 19 points, seven assists, and three rebounds. Booker chipped in with 15 points and two rebounds; Archie Goodwin did not play.
Julius Randle has been playing very well for the Lakers as of late and that was the case Sunday night as well. Randle etched a double-double in the Lakers' 107-93 loss to the Blazers totaling 13 points and 13 rebounds. Other former Cats in action on Sunday night included Patrick Patterson and Enes Kanter. Patterson totaled two points and five rebounds in the Raptors' 91-80 win over the Clippers while Kanter contributed twelve points and seven rebounds in OKC's 117-114 win over Dallas.
Monday
Monday night featured two teammates that, arguably, are playing better than any former Cats in the league, Demarcus Cousins and Rajon Rondo of the Kings. The Kings hit the road Monday night to Charlotte to play the Hornets. Cousins dropped 30 points and eleven rebounds while Rondo came up just short of another triple-double adding 14 points, eight rebounds, four steals, and an amazing 20 assists. Willie Cauley-Stein totaled a rebound and an assist in just eight minutes of the Kings' 127-122 loss. Aaron Harrison of the Hornets did not play.
The Phoenix Wildcats, I mean Suns, were also in action on Monday night as well against the Spurs. Eric Bledsoe would miss the game due to a sore left knee which gave Devin Booker the starting position. Booker struggled, however, scoring just four points and four rebounds. Brandon Knight played his usual role totaling 18 points, eight assists, and three rebounds. Archie Goodwin played five minutes in the 98-84 loss.
A matchup of two former highly touted UK big men took place between the 76ers and Timberwolves Monday night as Karl Anthony-Towns went against Nerlens Noel. Towns has been a double-double machine early in his NBA career, however, he too would struggle totaling just six points and two rebounds. His struggles were, in part, result of foul trouble throughout the game. Noel didn't play particularly well either scoring seven points and five rebounds. Tayshaun Prince played ten minutes in the Timberwolves' 100-95 win.
The final matchup of former Cats in the league on Monday night was the Thunder against the Jazz. Enes Kanter tallied six points and five rebounds in the Thunders' 111-89 win while Trey Lyles scored two points and four rebounds in just seven minutes of action.
Go Big Blue.
