The latest college basketball Coaches and AP Top 25 Polls are out, and there's a new team at the top.
The Kentucky Wildcats are now alone in first place after winning both of their games last week while many top-25 teams suffered defeats. The Nos. 1, 4, 5, 6, 9, 20 and 24 teams in last week's AP Top 25 suffered defeats, including then-No. 1 North Carolina Tar Heels. They lost to an unranked Northern Iowa squad Saturday to drop the Heels out of the top spot and allow UK to ascend back atop the rankings.
Even had the Heels won, it would have been hard not to put the Cats atop the rankings after their thrashing of the then-No. 5 Duke Blue Devils. It was easily one of the most impressive wins any college team has through the first two weeks of action.
As for the rest of Kentucky's November and December schedule, they currently aren't set to play another ranked team possibly until the Louisville Cardinals December 26th. The Cards are getting votes in both major polls, but not enough to make the top 25 just yet.
We're 63-5 as the AP No. 1 team under @UKCoachCalipari. It's also the fifth season under Coach Cal we've appeared at No. 1 during the year.
