Boom Williams suffers elbow injury

UPDATE

Head coach Mark Stoops said after the game that Boom Williams would be out for a bit, but said he’s not sure what the extent of the injury is yet. It's probably safe to assume Boom isn't playing at Georgia next week, which means Mikel Horton and Jojo Kemp will have to carry the load.

The Kentucky Wildcats have suffered a potentially major loss during their matchup with the Tennessee Volunteers.

Running back Boom Williams suffered what appeared to be a scary elbow injury during the second quarter against UT on a goal-line run by the sophomore stud. Boom  had just come back in after getting reinforced pads for a rib injury when he came up short of a touchdown with an injury.

Williams returned to the field on first-and-goal at the UT 5-yard line and gained three yards on a carry up the middle. On 2nd down, Williams tried to beat a defender to the end zone on a rush to the left, but was tripped then brought down on a hard hit by cornerback Justin Martin. Williams appeared to land hard on his left elbow and remained down on the field for several minutes before being helped to the locker room.

The team later said Williams was being evaluated for an elbow injury and his return was undetermined, but Mark Stoops said at halftime that Boom was out for the rest of the game. It appears Boom's season may be in jeopardy based on how bad the injury looked.
