The Kentucky Wildcats will look to keep their breakout season going when they take on the EKU Colonels this week.
Sitting at 3-1 and 2-1 in SEC play, UK looks poised for their best season under head coach Mark Stoops. With five more home games upcoming, all of which being at teams currently unranked, the potential for six, seven or even eight wins is certainly there for the Wildcats.
Just making it to bowl eligibility is something that would be a huge accomplishment for the Cats, but it's clear now they have bigger aspirations in mind. They'll look to avoid a massive slip up when the Colonels come to Commonwealth Stadium this Saturday. EKU's campus is a short 30-minute drive from UK, though the two haven't faced since 2009.
Both teams are coming off victories in Week 4 with UK coming off a 21-13 win over No. 25 Missouri. Kentucky’s win over the Tigers snapped their 18-game losing streak to ranked foes while also ending Missouri's 11-game road winning streak.
EKU is coming off a 51-13 win over Austin Peay to open Ohio Valley Conference play. The Colonels are averaging 314.3 yards of total offense per game, including 215.3 yards through the air. EKU has six players with double-digit carries, with Ethan Thomas owning three TDs on 14 carries and 65 yards.
Former UK running back Dy’Shawn Mobley carried it 13 times for 38 yards, with Ethan Thomas adding 65 yards on 14 carries and Adam Lane leading the team with 22 rushes for 75 yards and two TDs.
