Willie Cauley-Stein Player of the Year post
This hasn’t been udated in a couple of days, but as you might expect, the sports books in Las Vegas lay odds on things like Player of the Year college basketball. Kentucky really wasn’t expected to have an entry in the POY race this season, mostly due to the fact that so many players were expected to see so many minutes.
Here’s the list of odds, courtesy of Bodava.com:
Player | School | Odds |
---|---|---|
Jahlil Okafor | (Duke) | 3/2 |
Willie Cauley-Stein | (Kentucky) | 9/2 |
Frank Kaminsky | (Wisconsin) | 6/1 |
Montrezl Harrell | (Louisville) | 6/1 |
Stanley Johnson | (Arizona) | 10/1 |
Delon Wright | (Utah) | 10/1 |
Jerian Grant | (Notre Dame) | 10/1 |
Juwan Staten | (West Virginia) | 15/1 |
It’s a little surprising to me that WCS is actually 2nd ahead of Frank Kaminksy and Montrezl Harrell. All we heard all season was how great Harrell was, he was on very many first-team All-American lists and WCS was on very few, etc.
I don’t think WCS will win it, though. He’s just not glamorous enough, and Okafor is the kind of glamor player the media prefer for this kind of award. Still, it’s nice to see he’s getting some love.
