Mychal Mulder, a junior college All-American transfer from Vincennes University and ranked the #13 JUCO tranfer by 247Sports.com, has committed this afternoon to the University of Kentucky. Mulder provides much-needed shooting for the Wildcats, as well as much-needed back-court size. At6‘4"/184#, Mulder is just about the perfect 2-guard size to go with smaller incoming combo guard Isaiah Briscoe and the more diminutive (in stature, but not in skill) Tyler Ulis.
Mulder is a good fit for Kentucky despite not being amongst the most coveted recruits in the land. Mulder is a good but not elite athlete and isn’t just a 3-point shooter. He can also shoot the midrange shot, rebound, and plays bigger than his size. Here’s a taste of some of his film:
Here’s some high school highlights:
Mulder’s game looks very in-control, very mature and extremely smooth, even at the high school level. He looks like the kind of player we are fortunate to get, despite how frequently Coach Cal lands 5-star high-schoolers. Also, Mulder is from Canada, which (and I know I’m reaching here) could possibly help with the recruitment of other Canadians, including Jamal Murray, the best guard at both the Nike Hoop Summit and the Jordan Brand Classic games.

UK takes a kid UofL passed on which means we'll bag on him all summer and he'll score 47 on Louisville next year because sports are unjust.

Mychal Mulder is a real class kid. Hard worker and from what I've been told an A++ teammate. Will fit in well and do his job.

As good as Newman is, Mychal Mulder may actually be better fit for UK next year. UK needed shooter, wing and that’s what Mulder is

Mulder has been described to me as knock-down shooter who can also create from perimeter. OK on D. Active away from ball, looks to get open.
