2015 power forward Carlton Bragg was set to announce his commitment today, which was expected to be to Kansas by most prognosticators, although Kentucky’s John Calipari had been recruiting him very hard and watched him play as recently as last week. Bragg did indeed choose Kansas, albeit with a bit of a hiccup. Check this out:
Well, it’s obvious he had Kentucky on his mind, anyway, but alas, it is not to be (Hat tip: Drew Franklin of KSR). Bragg was choosing between Kentucky, Kansas, and Illinois.
So what does this mean for Kentucky? Well, the biggest takeaway from this one is, "You can’t get them all." There are still several big players the Wildcats hope to get to go along with the already-committed Skal Labissiere, including:
- Ivan Rabb of Oakland, California - 6‘9"/220#
- Brandon Ingram of Kingston, North Carolina - 6‘8"/180
- Stephen Zimmerman of Las Vegas, Nevada - 7‘0"/241#
- Caleb Swanigan of Fort Wayne, Indiana 6‘8"/255#
Some of these decisions may depend upon who stays and who leaves from the current class. There are also players like Cheick Diallo and Thomas Bryant who have expressed UK interest or who UK has been recruiting that don’t show a Kentucky offer yet. So if any of you are concerned, and I don’t doubt a few of you are, just remember that Coach Cal may lose a few battles, but he usually wins the war. I expect nothing less for 2015.
