Isaiah Briscoe, the #1 Point Guard in 2015, Commits to the Kentucky Wildcats over UConn, St. Johns

Kentucky takes a big leap in the recruiting rankings by landing the Rivals.com #9 and #4 players back-to-back.

Isaiah Briscoe, the Rivals.com #9 nationally ranked player and the #1 point guard in the class of 2015, a 6‘3" 215# point guard out of Newark New Jersey, has committed to the Kentucky Wildcats.

Briscoe is an outstanding ballhandler and finisher. He has a very strong body and is exactly the kind of point guard John Calipari needs to continue the tradition of great lead guards at Kentucky. This is Calipari’s second commitment for the class of 2015, and it’s one that Kentucky fans have long been waiting for.

One of the things Calipari has always done well is recruit lead guards, and that’s probably because he played that position in college. He understands what it takes for guys like Briscoe to get into the NBA, and what it takes for them to succeed in college basketball.

Briscoe’s nickname is "Boogie," and I think we can all appreciate that one. The last Boogie we had at Kentucky was the totally awesome Demarcus Cousins, one of the Big Blue Nation's all-time favorites. Briscoe says he will wait until the late signing period to sign his Letter of Intent, and the reason appears to be waiting to see what will happen with the current players.

The talk today from the college scouting services has been very pro-Kentucky all day:

Looks like they were right.

This will move Kentucky way up in the recruiting rankings, probably well into the top five and possibly into the top three. That’s familiar ground for Kentucky, and what we have come to expect from Coach Cal.
