Labissiere has been in the news lately due to some issues getting eligible to play basketball in Tennessee due to a transfer, and most recently because of an alleged comment by an AAU coach that Labissiere’s guardian had been asking around about how to profit of his ward.
Labissiere is a major shot blocker in the mold of a Willie Cauley-Stein, except he can hit the jumper out to 17 and 18 feet. He’s tall, long, very athletic and runs the floor with abandon. He needs to gain some weight and strength, but he’s the kind of player that can protect the rim for Kentucky, something UK is used to having since the matriculation of Anthony Davis to Lexington. Labissiere is also a surviver of the devastating Haiti magnitude 7.0 earthquake back in 2010. The house actually collapsed on him and his family. That earthquake killed between 100,000 and 300,000 people.
Skal also said that Nerlens Noel had a big impact on his choice. He said he plans to sign the National Letter of Intent tomorrow at noon.
