Essentials for victory
Kentucky must offend. The offense looked good last weekend, and if it can produce anything like the kind of numbers they did against UT-Martin, Kentucky will impress us all.
Find a way to contain Derrius Vick. He was deadly against Kent State last week, and the Wildcats have to contain both his arm and his feet.
Force turnovers. Kentucky needs to force turnovers out of Ohio like it did out of UT-Martin. Yes, it will be more difficult, but it’s supposed to be hard.
Keep pressure on the quarterback. Vick may be light on his feet, but the last thing Kentucky wants to do is let him sit back and pick them apart. Za’Darius Smith and Jason Hatcher need to bring the heat.
Take care of special teams. Kentucky needs to be successful in all aspects of special teams, including coverage and the return game.
Play with confidence. Kentucky looked confident last week, and they had a great week of practice in between. Success breeds success.
I want to see Kentucky win this game by at least two touchdowns, preferably three or four. If the offense is truly back to a real Neal Brown offense, it will show up in this game against the improved competition that the Bobcats represent.
Defensively, Kentucky’s defensive line must show us that they are at least competent. They were the main subject of Mark Stoops’ ire after the football game last week. Let’s hope that changes in this contest.
Go, ‘Cats!
