Welcome to Day 3 of the Big Blue Bahamas and our open game thread for the game today. Once again, Kentucky will be playing the Puerto Rico National Team Reserves.
Opponent: Puerto Rico National Team Reserves
Location: Kendal G.L. Isaacs National Gymnasium, Bahamas
Radio: UK/IMG Radio
TV: ESPNU
Streaming: ESPN3.com
Last time these two teams met, the Wildcats came away with a convincing 74-49 victory. This time, I expect the Puerto Rico team to perform much better than last time. They will be wanting a bit of payback for the beat down, and even though I don’t really expect Kentucky to lose to this bunch (having already seen them), they are talented enough to pull what would now be considered an upset against this young UK team.
The big thing to look for this time is transition defense. The PRNTR got a bunch of early run-outs against the Wildcats last time, and Kentucky never really did a decent job of defending transition. I expect that to be a big focus.
Once again, I expect Coach Cal to be on the sidelines watching and one of his assistants coaching the team. Then again, you never know about Coach Cal.
This should be a fun game for those of us able to watch it. For those not, be sure to set your DVR. Here are a few tweets from around the Big Blue Twitterverse:
Assistant John Robic will serve as UK's head coach today in the Bahamas; Calipari will watch from the stands: http://t.co/Lht6AkDfcw
