Joker Phillips abruptly resigned as Florida Gators wide receiver coach for "personal reasons" yesterday, producing wild speculation around the Internet. We'll have more on this story a bit later.

Kentucky football

• Kentucky cornerback recruit Von Davis looked really good at the Jimbo Fisher football camp this past weekend.

• For the Kentucky defense, it starts in the middle:

  Right now, in the starting spots, you’ve got a senior with 56 career tackles in Mike Douglas, a Red-shirt freshman who has been whispered about for months in Regie Meant, a JUCO standout CJ Johnson, a Kentucky boy who has impressed coaches in practice in Jacob Hyde, and of course, a 5* Defensive Tackle that turned down Alabama for Kentucky in Matt Elam.

• Kentucky loses a quarterback recruit to N.C. State. UK is pretty stacked at that spot, so landing a quality QB this year will be ... tricky.

Kentucky basketball

• Kentucky 2015 recruit Stephen Zimmerman is trying out for Team USA. Says he'll make the call "when it feels right."

• Julius Randle's right foot will require surgery. He broke it as a senior in high school and it's apparently still giving him trouble. It's not expected to affect his NBA draft status or position.

• Jersey numbers are set for all four UK frosh.

• Kentucky's Sha'Keela Saunders is the national runner-up in the long jump.
