Winton Woods High School
Cincinnati, OH
Edwards had a stellar senior season that propelled him to 4 star status at Rivals, and saw his rankings increase almost across the board. This is backed up by one of the better highlight films of any prospect in this class. He boasts over a dozen offers, and likely drew even more interest during the course of the fall. Rivals also rank him as the 13th best player in the state of Ohio. This 5’11’’ 180 pound safety is a quality pick-up from the Buckeye State that will certainly contribute while at UK.
Scouts raved about Edwards play-making abilities on defense but also offense and special teams. Signing Edwards was also important for a 2015 prospect UK is after: offensive tackle George Brown who is a high 4 star recruit that is a teammate and relative to Edwards.
The depth is pretty solid at safety as two starters and their key back-ups all return; however, Edwards may be too good of an athlete to redshirt because he should be able to contribute on a variety of special teams his freshman year. Coming out of high school he nearly possesses the body type needed to play in the SEC in the secondary. In his sophomore season he is a legitimate threat to be named a starting safety due to already possessing solid route recognition and tackling abilities.
