Previously committed to Univ. of Georgia, this 5’10’’ 190 pound running back’s commitment was considered a coup when he committed to UK last summer and added to this class’ recruiting momentum. Williams is considered a national top ten "all-purpose" running back, and he boasts elite speed and already appears to be very strong for his age and position. Williams claimed offers from over a dozen SEC, PAC-12, and ACC schools.
Williams will get an opportunity to contribute next year. Running back depth was hurt with two graduations and a transfer, leaving only junior Braylon Heard, sophomore JoJo Kemp, and – if healthy – redshirt sophomore Josh Clemons. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see Williams and fellow freshman Mikel Horton contribute in the backfield. I judge Williams will be used very similar to how Ryan Timmons was used last season, and he will see some snaps in the backfield and playing "slot receiver" given his speed, vision, and receiving abilities. In a few seasons, Horton’s inside running along with William’s speed will make for an obvious "Thunder and Lightning" narrative.
