The Seattle Seahawks really took it to the Denver Broncos last night. Congratulations to the Seahawks on their first Lombardi Trophy and a complete domination of the Super Bowl. Impressive victory.
Tweet of the Morning:
College bros refer to their recruits by the highest ratings they can find. Four-star at one outlet and two at the others? He's a four then!

Kentucky and Ohio St. in hand-to-hand combat over Ohio recruits. You can expect OSU to win most of them, but after winning a couple, you can't rule out Kentucky, who would have formerly been less than an afterthought.

The BPI, constructed by Dean Oliver, the inventor of the Four Factors, has Kentucky at #4 in the nation. For some reason, nobody wants to pay attention to that. Ken Pomeroy has UK at #14 right now. I think the truth is really somewhere in-between, although I do like what Oliver is doing. The RPI, which we know is highly simplistic, has Kentucky at #19. So when I criticize people like Gary Parrish for being basketball Luddites, this is why. He is no better than the NCAA when it comes to embracing improved analytics.
Myself, I would have Kentucky around #9 or 10. It may not look like it yet, but this Kentucky team is better than their record. Eventually, it is going to show up, just like the 3-point shooting and free throw shooting are beginning to round in to form.

Really bad news for Arizona. I hate to see this, he was a big part of their success so far.

A ton of upsets in college basketball this weekend. Pittsburgh dropped an ugly game to Virginia, 48-45, Indiana knocked off Michigan, Oregon St. upset UCLA, Texas took Kansas down a big peg, Ohio St. beat Wisconsin, Arizona lost not only to Cal, but also one of their starters for the season. UMass lost to St. Josephs and Michigan St. lost to Georgetown. What does it all mean? Chaos!

Are college basketball games too long? Yes, and here are some suggestions for quick fixes. I kind of like most of them, although the free-throw hand-slapping is a minor thing. Three free throws after the 12th foul sounds very interesting. Without deep examination, I kind of like it. But I hate to agree with John Feinstein about anything.
