Ted Ligety was extremely impressive yesterday in the giant slalom, where he got out to an absurd lead in the first run and then just skied conservatively to win by almost half a second. It was a dominant performance by a guy who has dominated the world in this event for a good while now.

I just watched Dan Dakich on ESPN say Louisville is best team in CBB because they just blew out Rutgers and Temple. Yes he just said that

I feel pretty confident somebody ghost-wrote this piece from the sockpuppet Kent Sterling — either that, or he's the victim of an alien kidnapping and body-snatch. It's actually rational, and he deliberately passes on an opportunity to attack Calipari.

It's really weird, but this just never gets old to me. I think it's hilarious, and evidently, the Internet does as well.

Auburn nearly upsets Florida in the
SwampO Dome on an interesting strategy by Barbee. Barbee had his players foul Patric Young, a poor free throw shooter, with 20 seconds left in a tie game, hoping to get the last possession with a shot to win or tie. It backfired when Young made both free throws and Auburn threw the inbounds pass out of bounds on the ensuing possession.Andy Hutchins has the postmortem. I want to warn Florida fans about one thing, though — teams winning close games is not necessarily a sign of poise. Very often, it's just random events aligning themselves to a favorable outcome, sometimes known as "luck." When you discover the difference between poise and luck, it is often at the worst possible time.

It's no surprise to me that Syracuse would get upset — I've never believed them to be as good as many think. What is very surprising was the team that finally pulled it off — Boston College who now sits at a blistering 7-19 after the victory.
