It's time to get out the gator meat in honor of ... well, you know. Let's just hope the Gators don't make us the meat.
I've had gator (small "g") meat one time — down in the Big Easy during the 2012 Final Four. Tastes like ... no, not chicken. Gator!
Tweet of the Morning:
I vote we add "Traveling to UofL and UK basketball games" as the next Winter Olympics extreme sport.

Interesting quote from John Calipari:
On if he saw some of that togetherness when Andrew Harrison took a hard foul and teammates came to his defense: "Yeah. You know, I’ll watch it. But like I said, I want them to do stuff that probably it’s not fair to ask of all freshmen. But that’s my job, to ask for the impossible. That’s why our kids stand out. That’s why they go. We’re asking to do the impossible. That’s what we do."
On when he saw the togetherness with the 2012 NCAA title team: "We had veterans. We had four veterans on that team that could talk to them. Plus you had Michael that tied his emotions to his energy. You had Anthony Davis that just wanted to win, could care less about scoring. So they tied nothing to their offense. Now the one that did was my little point guard, and it took me half a year to get him right. But I didn’t have five of them. I got five and six right now."
It took more than half the year, if I remember, to get Teague "right."

It's time for the Wildcats to fight like a team:
"I told them after the game, 'At some point, guys, if you want to be special, that's got to change. Your emotions have got to be tied to our defense, team-wise. That's it, nothing else," he said.
That's the key... fight on defense, let the offense come. Keep emphasizing it, Coach, they'll eventually get it.

The NCAA considers adjusting the "targeting" rule, thus:
The rules committee proposes that an overturned targeting penalty foul would not result in a 15-yard penalty. This past season, the ejection to the player could be overturned upon review, but the 15-yard penalty still stood. Now, the committee has proposed that if the player ejection penalty is overturned, the 15-yard penalty would also.
That's really a no-brainer if you ask me.

Team Speed Kills looks at the NCAA Rules proposal in the name of "player safety," declares it bad, and proposes their own rules. It's pretty interesting, you should read it.
I'd just like to add a point — You want to pass unpopular legislation? Make it about "kids safety." Seems this isn't lost on the NCAA.
