It was quite a Friday night for UK women's athletics: The soccer team beat UT 3-2 in a nailbiter to qualify for the SEC Championship Game (today at 3 PM on ESPNU) and the Kill(er) Kittens beat Georgia 3-1. Hopefully today will serve up another series of wins for our Wildcats!
Friday night's match saw Lauren O'Conner deliver another 21 kills, while fellow senior Jackie Napper tied her career record 26 digs against the Dawgs. We'll need our seniors to continue to lead our young Wildcats as we face the Tigers.
We'd previewed Mizzou earlier this season, and as predicted their youth has struggled. At 15-12, the defending SEC champion Tigers may not look like they'll serve up stiff competition, but this is a program used to success and as their players continue to mature their game is improving. Expect stellar play from Senior All-American Whitney Little, along with MB Emily Thater and All-American Carly Kan.
The Cats will need to maximize their aggressive offense today, much of which centers on setter Morgan Bergren. However, defense was the key factor against Georgia and the Cats knew it. In addition to O'Conner and Napper look to see Anni Thomasson and Kaz Brown continue to step up their games to ensure the Tigers see nothing but a tall blue wall.
Join us as we cheer our Cats onto victory! You can catch all the Kill(er) Kitten action at noon on the SEC Network.
