Welcome to the A Sea of Blue Live Game Thread for the Boston Terriers at Kentucky Wildcats basketball game. This is yet another game in the Cawood Ledford Classic, and the next game of the event will be played on Sunday night against Montana State.
Boston University comes into Rupp Arena at 1-1 tonight, picking up their first win on the road at Norfolk State. Kentucky, of course, is coming off a resounding victory in the Champions Classic over top 5 Kansas.
Essentials for victory
Take the opponent seriously — We’ve seen what happens when Kentucky takes a team lightly, and it wasn’t pretty. We’ve seen what happens when they take opponents seriously, and it’s devastating. Let’s just skip the ugly part and move right to devastating.
Make threes — This is a continuing weakness in Kentucky’s game, and I won’t quit harping on it until it improves.
Keep your feet — When the Kentucky big guys keep their feet, they are almost impossible to score on with any consistency.
Guard the three — Boston University can make them. UK must guard them there and force them to put the ball on the floor and shoot over size.
Attack the rim — We need to shoot more free throws, and finally;
Make free throws — Kentucky is on the same path as last year, and that’s not what we want to see.
This should not be a difficult game for Kentucky if we take the Kansas win at face value — Boston University is a markedly inferior team, both size-wise and talent-wise, to Kansas. So let’s just get this thing done.
Go, ‘Cats!
