Analysis
Morehead State is coming off a win on the road at George Mason. The are reckoned by Women’s Basketball State to be at #34 overall, so they should provide a good challenge for Kentucky.
6‘2" sophomore forward Shay Steele and 5‘10" freshman forward Eriel McKee are Morehead’s two leading scorers at 20 ppg, with senior guard Almesha Jones right behind at 19.5. Offensively, the Eagles are fairly efficient, operating at about 1.07 points per possession. Kentucky is better offensively, but their defensive numbers are slightly inferior owing to the comparative higher quality of their early-season competition.
Morehead St. is Matthew Mitchell’s former team, and Kentucky hired him away from the Eagles back in 2007. His body of work since then at UK has been impressive, and the Kentucky hoops squad should be favored by about 15 in this game.
