2014 NCAA Football: College Game Day Schedule And Analysis

Week 10 of the 2014 college football season is upon us. Who will separate themselves?

Christopher Hanewinckel-USA TODAY Sports

Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen of the Big Blue Nation, and welcome to Week 10 of the college football season. The morning has relatively few interesting games this wee, but there are some good ones later on. Of course, most of us will be watching the Kentucky Wildcats vs. Missouri Tigers, but there are other games that may be of interest to Kentucky fans.

Early games

  • ULM Warhawks at Texas A&M Aggies — Kentucky fans get relatively few chances to compare how UK did versus a non-conference opponent with other SEC teams. This might be interesting for that reason.
  • Boston College Eagles at Virginia Tech Hokies — These are two quality ACC teams that should provide an entertaining game. Both teams are fighting for bowl eligibility with five wins.

Mid-afternoon games

  • TCU Horned Frogs at West Virginia — After scoring about a million points on Texas Tech last weekend, the Horned Frogs face a much more challenging foe on the road today. This could be another shootout reminiscent of TCU-Baylor where TCU lost 58-61.
  • Florida Gators at Georgia Bulldogs (Jacksonville, FL) — The Worlds Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party has a clear favorite in Georgia and a clear dead man walking in Florida coach Will Muschamp. This is widely seen as Muschamp’s last stand, although I think even a victory here would not be enough to save him.

Evening Games

  • Auburn Tigers at Ole Miss Rebels — The loser of this game probably drops off the CFB Playoff radar. It’s the unstoppable force of the Auburn offense against the immovable object of Ole Miss’ land sharks. Game of the day.
  • Arkansas Razorbacks at Mississippi St. Bulldogs — Arkansas is the best team in the nation with no conference wins, and we know what Mississippi State is. I don’t think the Razorbacks’ power running attack is good enough to defeat MSU’s stellar front line.
  • Notre Dame Fighting Irish at Navy Midshipmen — Having recently been to a Navy game, this game is worth watching just to see the tremendous environment, and how the Irish defense deals with the Navy option attack. I think Notre Dame just has too much talent for the Middies in this one.

Late games

  • Arizona Wildcats at UCLA Bruins — These two schools have developed into a bitter rivalry, and this should be an exciting matchup between two quality squads. Arizona is unbeaten on the road this season, and I don’t expect that to change tonight.
  • Utah Utes at Arizona St. Sun Devils — Utah has been a revelation this season, but going into Sun Devil Stadium and beating ASU is probably just beyond their reach.

Enjoy the games, leave your comments here.
