Kentucky at Vanderbilt: Second Half Game Thread

Kentucky played okay in the first half to get out to an 8-point lead, but it could have been a lot better.

That wasn't a great half of basketball, but there is a lot to be proud of when it comes to effort.  I think Kentucky really broght the effort in that half we've been looking for all year, especially Julius Randle.  He's having trouble getting the ball in the basket, but he's doing a much better job getting the ball out when he gets double-teamed.  UK took way too many 3-point shots, and didn't make that many.

Here are your stats:

Randle is 3-8, which is a remarkably poor percentage for him.  But Jarrod Polson came out and gave us two big 3-pointers that is largely responsible for Kentucky's lead.

What we are seeing here is the result of some maturation.  We see this team beginning to understand the game, and even though their execution is far from sharp, it has moments where they are really impressive.

Kentucky has to do a better job on Damian Jones, and has to work to bet better shots in the second half.  But I am happy to see Kentucky not get in a big hole early, and come out of a half of basketball with a significant lead.  Let's see if they can close out this game in style.
