There hasn’t been a lot of that’s come out publicly about this defensive tackle from the hometown of Coach Mark Stoops. His high school coach is the brother of Vince Marrow, who probably tipped his brother off to the 6’ 6’’ and 265 lb. physical specimen he had in his program. Dubose committed to UK last April at which point he seemed to shut down his recruitment with no more visits. This probably prevented Dubose from racking up further offers than he would have otherwise. In any case, it was reported that Ohio State had visited his school to inquire to the level of his commitment to UK.
Given his measurables, Dubose strikes me as a large defensive end in in Stoops’ 4-3 base defense with a high ceiling. The fact that he played on kickoff and punt coverage speaks well of his downfield speed. Viewing his highlight tape it would appear his frame could easily handle another 20-25 pounds of good weight. Given the depth at the defensive end position next season, Dubose is a candidate for a redshirt season. After a developmental year or two, Dubose has as much promise as any other player in this class.
