This is one of those times where we just hold our heads up high, and hope for the best. I know this Miami RedHawks team is supposed to be a pushover, but after last weekend, I am just a bit at wits end. This has nothing at all to do with the coaches, but rather with the whole experience of being a Wildcats fan and trying to manage our expectations. Pardon me if I am struggling just a tiny bit with that.
With all that said, this is a football game that the paper says we should win easily. I am not quite so sanguine, although I do think that Miami is just a tad underpowered to beat Kentucky in their home stadium, even as feckless as we looked against the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers last Saturday.
What we need to see, primarily, is improvement in the defensive line, and an offense that is seriously threatening to opponents. The latter I feel comfortable with, due to the start of Maxwell Smith. Smith is very good in this type of game, and I am positive that he will be a force in this game.
The second thing that makes me smile is the fact that Ryan Timmons will get the start, and that excites me. Timmons is a very exciting player, and with him on the field, nothing is impossible, offensively. For a true freshman to get this much esteem from Mark Stoops & Co. is really exciting.
This is a game we should win. I think we will. Let's get it done.
Go, 'Cats!
