Kentucky Wildcats Morning Quickies: Nick Saban Edition

News and commentary from around the Big Blue Internet. Maxwell Smith insists he'll be fine for Florida, but UK not taking chances. John Calipari heads out west for an appearance with Vance Wallberg. More.

John David Mercer-USA TODAY Sports

Nick Saban is "too damn old" to start over at Texas, according to him. That's pretty darn funny. I have to admit, though, I didn't know he was 62, he really doesn't look nearly that old.

Tweet of the Morning:

I'd love to attend that talk.

Your Quickies:

Kentucky football
Kentucky basketball
  • Heh. Fresno Bee:

Kentucky basketball coach John Calipari, who led the Wildcats to the 2012 NCAA title and is one of two coaches in history to guide three schools to the Final Four (he also did it with UConn and Memphis), will team with Vance Walberg to direct sessions in a basketball clinic Saturday at Clovis North. (My emphasis)

Somebody better tell Jim Calhoun that Calipari mowed his lawn.

  • Interesting. From Tyler Ulis' high school coach:

"I am not sure he [Ulis] totally understands the great Kentucky basketball tradition. He doesn’t understand the complete history of Kentucky basketball, but the recent history is attractive to any kid. I think as the coaches lowered their eyes, they found a special player."

  • James Blackmon Jr. getting attention from Calipari, and ... others.

  • Love me some Jon Hood. I really hope he's able to play some this year, but it will be tougher than ever.

  • This is why Coach Cal went to visit Stephen Zimmerman (2015) the other day:

    Via Rob Dauster.

  • Coach Cal recruiting for 2016, and in Kentucky.
