Nick Saban is "too damn old" to start over at Texas, according to him. That's pretty darn funny. I have to admit, though, I didn't know he was 62, he really doesn't look nearly that old.
Tweet of the Morning:
Kentucky men's basketball coach John Calipari headed this way to team with Vance Walberg at Clovis North basketball clinic Saturday.

I'd love to attend that talk.

Maxwell Smith says he'll be fine for Florida, but Patrick Towles is getting the backup reps right now.

Wilbur Hackett, SEC legend. He also happens to be a former UK linebacker.

Heh. Fresno Bee:
Kentucky basketball coach John Calipari, who led the Wildcats to the 2012 NCAA title and is one of two coaches in history to guide three schools to the Final Four (he also did it with UConn and Memphis), will team with Vance Walberg to direct sessions in a basketball clinic Saturday at Clovis North. (My emphasis)
Somebody better tell Jim Calhoun that Calipari mowed his lawn.

Interesting. From Tyler Ulis' high school coach:
"I am not sure he [Ulis] totally understands the great Kentucky basketball tradition. He doesn’t understand the complete history of Kentucky basketball, but the recent history is attractive to any kid. I think as the coaches lowered their eyes, they found a special player."
-
James Blackmon Jr. getting attention from Calipari, and ... others.
-
Love me some Jon Hood. I really hope he's able to play some this year, but it will be tougher than ever.
-
This is why Coach Cal went to visit Stephen Zimmerman (2015) the other day:
Via Rob Dauster.

The soccer Wildcats will be in Columbia this weekend. I'll be sure and wave to them as I drive by Columbia tomorrow on my way to the beach.

The ending of last week's Wisconsin-Arizona St. somehow escaped my notice until today. Check out this story stream from Bucky's Fifth Quarter, and consider how you'd feel if this were you.

Are the Texas Longhorns looking to poach Nick Saban from the Tide? Probably. Could it be done? Probably not. Team Speed Kills explains why. Roll 'Bama Roll takes the rumors semi-seriously. Burnt Orange Nation also reports on the matter, pretty much indifferently.

Very interesting story about a real "boot camp" for the Missouri players. I kind of like this as a team-building exercise. Coach Cal should take note.

I thought the Cardinals were really super interested in Isaiah Whitehead? Well, maybe I'm wrong, but if not, they aren't happy.

Ah, yes, the old "hire the high school coach" ploy. Sounds familiar.
