The 2013 football season officially began this weekend at the high school level and there were plenty of surprises. One was #2 ranked Louisville Trinity’s loss to #18 Nashville Ensworth on ESPN. Read about the game from two different viewpoints here and here. This was a tight and exciting game and well worth watching.

Another was the lopsided victory by Miami’s Booker T. Washington over Norcross (GA). Read the Miami Herald’s account and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s take. This was a game that I just couldn’t turn off. Booker T. Washington was mesmerizing. Rivals (5.9) 4 star QB Treon Harris (FSU Commit) was very poised and accurate. The Washington defense totally dominated Norcross.

Apopka’s QB Zack Darlington (Nebraska Commit) was hospitalized with a concussion after being knocked out of bounds. You can see the play and read about it at the Orlando Sentinel. This was his second concussion this year.

In Kentucky, there were several surprises and some blowouts. Male, DuPont Manual, Caldwell County, Pulaski County and Scott County all had big wins.
