The ESPN Super Tuesday schedule features no less than five Kentucky games. Eamonn Brennan has this to say:
It is my job to provide some analysis here, and my analysis is this: You are going to see a lot of the Kentucky Wildcats this season. That should be no surprise, of course. The Wildcats have a rather large fan base and a thoroughly sellable brand inventory, and they tend to bring viewers to the TV set.
Tweet of the Morning:
@tsnmike @pops901 For starters, he won an NCAA title without breaking rules. Just as John Calipari did. Great school, Kentucky. Hoops crazy!

Tom Penders defends Tubby Smith's selection to the Kentucky Athletic Hall of Fame, and gives props to Kentucky. What's not to like?

Whenever Drew Barker's football career ends, we need to bring him back in a recruiting capacity. This is very interesting reading for those with a desire to know the mind of a young, incoming football player. [Via Hank]
-
Is the football talent in the state of Kentucky improving? Kentucky Sports Connection says it is, and if so, that is very good news for the flagship university of the Commonwealth. [Via Hank]

Someone "new" is competing for the Center position. [Hank]

More info on the "under the radar" kids the Cats are looking at. [Hank]

The UK quarterback race is now down to two. Most speculate it is Jalen Whitlow and Maxwell Smith. Neal Brown reminded reporters about "what they say about assuming."
-
Wildcats will scrimmage again today. John Clay speculates that picking a starting QB will be the focus.
-
UK wants to honor fallen recruit DeAntre Turman, who sadly perished after a routine football collision resulted in a broken neck. NCAA rules forbid what they have in mind, so they've asked for a waiver. Hopefully it will be granted, the NCAA needs all the brownie points for compassion it can get these days.
-
So according to this guy, UK is the sixth worst job in college football, joining Indiana, Eastern Michigan, and Idaho among others.
Here's to getting our hindparts off this list. The Courier-Journal has more.
-
Ira Combs says that defense could be the calling card of this year's Wildcats team.
-
The speed of the new Kentucky offense is proving a challenge for the "big uglies." It's no big deal to get skill positions moving fast, but for the linemen, who have a lot of mass to move on every play, it's a genuine burden.
-
Cat Scratches says that the offense responded in yesterday's practice. Mark Stoops was pleased. Be sure and watch the two videos if you have the time.
Kentucky basketball
-
King Rex joins Tubby Smith in the Wildcats' next Kentucky Athletic Hall of Fame class. I can't think of two more deserving men.
-
Karl Towns out of Elite 24 game. Towns is working out with Orlando Antigua for the Dominican Republic national team.
-
Cliff Alexander will not be making an official visit to UK. Hat tip: Ben Roberts.
-
The Kentucky-Alabama game picked for one of ESPN's Super Tuesday contests, along with Kentucky at Arkansas, Kentucky at LSU, vs. Texas A&M and at Ole Miss.
-
Love me some Stanley Johnson. I want to see him in Blue and White.
-
Trey Lyles' father says that none of his final four schools have the edge right now. Hat tip: Aaron's blog.

Phillip Fulmer rips former Tennessee athletics director Mike Hamilton, calling him "substandard." One thing is for sure; Tennessee has fallen on hard times.
-
Is this the sign of the times? Seems to me that with the economy and the big TV contracts, it is easier to watch from home. The downside is that you miss the fan experience of attending. But then again, everyone wants to do things with their cell phones instead of watching the game. [Hank]

Things may be about to pop at Miami... [Hank]
-
Looks like Hurtt's days are numbered, but I tend to agree with Jurich that Hurtt should get his due process. [Hank]
[Glenn] For the record, I agree with Hank and Tom Jurich. Give Hurtt a chance to tell his side. But if Hurtt cannot forestall a show-cause order, Louisville will have to let him go.

Sim-ulated BCS standings. Man, we seriously need some sports around here, we have scraped the bottom of the barrel and are now digging through the wood.
-
Johnny Manziel is reckoned only the 9th most likely to win the Heisman this year.
-
Rocky Top Talk has some fun at the expense of Phil Fulmer and Mike Hamilton.

Marshall Henderson will be back at Ole Miss and in class this fall. Hat tip: John Clay.
-
Which coach under 45 will make the Hall of Fame? Survey says: Shaka Smart. I was surprised to find Brad Stevens so far behind, but I think that has a lot to do with the fact he left for the Celtics, a move that many think will not work out for Stevens.

Rush The Court interviews Steve Alford. One of Alford's assistants was also an assistant to Coach Cal at Umass and Memphis.

The NCAA reverses their ruling on the marine who was ruled ineligible at Middle Tennessee St.

The Twitter bunch. Heh.

There are truly no words for this horror. This is something out of a b-movie plot. Grotesque, and unbelievable.
Other news
- KSR launching a site redesign on Friday. Well, that's probably about as long overdue as anything I can imagine. It was once described as looking like it was created on an Atari, and I think that's about right.
