PGA Tour player Dustin Johnson has just become engaged to Paulina Gretzky, and yes, that is the daughter of NHL legend Wayne Gretzky.
Tweet of the Morning:
Chris Walker not on UF roster for first day of fall semester, but has until next Tuesday (Aug. 27) to drop add from fall semester.

Interesting. Without Walker, Florida's definitely not as threatening as with him.

Kentucky football recruit DeAntre Turman dies from injuries suffered during a scrimmage. This is tragic, and very sad. Our prayers go out to the family. Details on his injuries are here. I can't imagine what his family is going through.

Wealthy Kentucky trustee "Bill" Gaton and Lexington mayor Jim Gray are at odds over the future of Rupp Arena.
Gaton is apparently determined to have an on-campus facility sans luxury suites, but he's living in the past. No matter the concerns about division along economic lines, luxury suites are the future of such arenas, and well-heeled donors really matter in today's arms race among colleges. To leave them out would place Louisville in a position of extreme advantage when it comes to attracting corporate money, and it is already having an effect that Kentucky currently has no means to counter.
Kentucky can't afford to be left behind. While this is a worthy debate, and there are no doubt steps that can be taken to minimize the impact of the changes, I don't see a viable alternative. Kentucky must compete, and can't let Louisville wind up with better facilities.

"Lowly Kentucky?" I guess that's what we can expect until we prove otherwise. But this is interesting:
"He's so charismatic. He's been so successful. I love spending time with Coach Cal. I won't really worry about that (being second to basketball), to be honest with you. There's such support for Kentucky basketball because of what they've done. They deserve it."
Contrast that with Bear Bryant's leave-taking. Just roll that around in your head a bit.

Kentucky is the only SEC team who has yet to name a starting quarterback. Feh. I can live with that for now.

Highlights from Saturday's scrimmage:
-
I hope it doesn't come to this. Well, using actual game reps to determine the starter is not unknown. Unlike the Morgan Newton -Mike Hartline quarterback drama a few years back, there is no clamoring for one guy or the other to be named. The Big Blue Nation seems quiet and patient on this, so perhaps it will all work out just fine.
I just hate having to resolve questions like this so late, but perhaps it's just that close.

College coach Twitter rankings. Calipari leads the way by a long shot, but others also prominent. I think Frank Martin's numbers are very impressive.

Prospects who don't pick UK show just how strong Calipari's next recruiting class could be.
