Kentucky Football: Yahtzee! #22 - 4-Star Offensive Tackle Nick Richardson Makes Pledge To UK

Another quality player from the Buckeye State commits to play for Mark Stoops & Co.

US PRESSWIRE

Yesterday, we neglected a pretty big Yahtzee! for the Kentucky Wildcats football team, even though community member girth wrote a FanPost about his commitment that somehow got missed. Nick Richardson committed to Mark Stoops & Co. making this the 22nd Yahtzee so far for 2014. This is a big deal because Richardson is a 4-star ranked player for Rivals.com and a 3-star for all other recruiting services. He is ranked higer than the player we lost at the same position, Brady Taylor, just the other day. Kyle Tucker of the Courier-Journal gives the vital information:

Richardson, who is 6 feet 4 and 285 pounds, chose the Wildcats from a list of major scholarship offers that included Indiana, Michigan State, Vanderbilt and Mississippi.

He is ranked as the nation’s No. 202 prospect by Rivals.com and the No. 19 offensive tackle, although it’s possible he could play an interior line position in college.

In other words, Nick is a big boy, a "big ugly" that is the kind of player that makes you a good football team. Lineman, particularly offensive linemen, characteristcally get overlooked by most fans, but they are instrumental in producing a good football team. Generally speaking, if a team has good lines, it has a good team.

Richardson is the 9th commitment from Ohio for Kentucky in the 2014 class alone, and over the 12th player from our northern neighbor that the Wildcats have signed since Mark Stoops took over the head coaching job.
